Google Workspace Ads

At some point, I started seeing large Upgrade buttons at the top of many Google Workspace products on my personal account. It took a while to figure out how to disable these, so I’m documenting it here.

How to disable Google Workspace upgrade ads on a personal account

At time of writing, the process is:

  1. Click your profile photo in the upper right corner.
  2. Click the Manager your Google Account button.
  3. Click People & sharing in the left sidebar.
  4. Scroll down to the Business features section and click on Business personalization.
  5. Turn off Business personalization.

I’m not aware of a way to disable these buttons for accounts that are already on a business plan, but I’ll update this page if I learn of one.
